Love reading to your kids? I do! As a teacher, my favorite part of the day was gathering my students together for a read aloud. Every month I am going to share a read aloud book for kids and some strategies to help engage your listeners.

It’s always fun to do a related activity afterwards. You can follow me on Instagram to see even more Father’s Day and summer themed activities for the whole month of June.

I Love Daddy Every Day by Isabel Otter is all about the sweet moments that make dad special throughout the year. Each page describes a father and all the wonderful things he does with his child. Readers can make connections to the illustrations on each page.

Tips for an interactive-read aloud:

  • Have your child identify the colors on the rainbow.
  • Ask: What is your favorite game? What is your favorite story?
  • Count the planets and count the stars on the page together.
  • Use the sound effect word ‘POP’ to point to and pop each bubble on the page.
  • Explain that in cold weather we wear clothing such as a hate, mitten, scarf etc.
  • Discuss all the things you love most about Dad.

To go with this read loud, you can find or create a gift to give to Dad on Father’s Day. I created colorful tie with my son by using a tie template and paint dot markers. Dad will love getting this creative tie gift! You can get the FREE tie template here.
